The Airline Pilots’ Guild of Sri Lanka (ALPGSL) strongly condemned the violence that took place against peaceful protesters at Galle Face on 9 May and called it a barbaric attack on the democracy and fundamental rights of all Sri Lankans.
The ALPGSL said they stand by the constitutional rights of the people and the rule of law. “We strongly believe that such dastardly acts should not be tolerated at any cost and we are of the fervent hope and expectation that the perpetrators will be brought to justice by the authorities,” they said.
Speaking to Ceylon Today, ALPGSL President Suranga Samarasinghe added that with the ongoing situation in the country, passenger arrivals have dropped significantly and this problem has to be addressed and it is everyone’s problem.
