100 CID officers tasked with probe

About 100 CID officers have been tasked with investigating the 9 May attacks on GotaGoGama and MynaGoGama peaceful protest sites.

The investigations are led by two Superintendents of Police who report directly to the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department.

The CID Director said the teams will review CCTV footage and other evidence. When asked if the teams were given a deadline to deliver a report on the findings, he said they were not given a deadline because the inquiry may be lengthy.

Meanwhile, the CID has summoned the former Prime Minister’s Head of Security, the OIC of the Kollupitiya Police, and the Organiser of the 9 May event at Temple Trees to provide testimony. The Government Analyst also visited GotaGoGama,Police said.
