Sri Lanka-IMF technical talks to continue

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced that technical discussions between Sri Lanka and IMF officials are continuing and that policy discussions will begin once a new Cabinet is formed.

IMF Mission Chief for Sri Lanka Masahiro Nozaki said discussions between the two parties will continue until 23 May as initially planned.

“We are following developments in Sri Lanka closely and are concerned about rising social tensions and violence,” Nozaki said, adding that the IMF remains committed to assist Sri Lanka in line with its policies.
