SJB calls for calm, demands probe


The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), while urging the public to be calm, called for immediate investigations into the 9 April incidents at GotaGoGama and MynaGoGama.

Addressing the media yesterday (10), SJB MP J.C. Alawathuwala said that the SJB is ready to extend its full support to enforce the law on the incidents that occurred at the GotaGoGama and MynaGoGama on 9 April.

“Yesterday a group, including the Prime Minister, brought our country into disrepute in the international arena. We saw how the Police in this country acted. When we look at the media, footage we see that there was an opportunity to block the routes to Galle face and suppress the thugs. The law enforcement team, including the IGP, should hold an immediate investigation in this regard,” he added.

Alawathuwala claimed that the former Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa and a number of MPs and ministers, were responsible for the incidents that caused unrest by spreading hate speech.
