Several chambers of commerce in SL request President’s resignation


Several chambers of commerce, including the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka have issued a joint statement, requesting the President to respect the voice of the public and resign immediately after the interim government is formed.

The joint chambers also called upon the President to promptly appoint a competent person as the interim Prime Minister in order to restore law and order and economic activity in the country.

They further requested the appointment of a Cabinet of Ministers in consultation with the Prime Minister acceptable to all leading political parties represented in Parliament.
