SLAS calls on the Speaker to convene Parliament forthwith

The Sri Lanka Administrative Service Association (SLAS) called on the Speaker of Parliament to immediately convene Parliament to avoid the country from becoming anarchy as further negotiations with the Government would only be futile.

The Association observed that by the Government’s ‘aiding and abetting attack’ on peaceful anti government protesters has breached public trust adding that to express their displeasure over such immoral act, members of SLAS would withdraw their services from today (10) until further notice. Furthermore District and Regional coordination committees have also stated they would not attend meetings where politicians attend.

They accused that inciting violence against protesters who have been battered by the ever rising cost of living could not in any manner be condoned adding that such incidents depict that the Government has miserably failed to take stock of the ongoing crisis.
