BASL warns those who advocate violence


In light of the clash that took place between SLPP supporters and anti-Government protesters yesterday (9), the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) assured that those who had advocated violence would be dealt with according to the law.

BASL also called upon the IGP and the Police to take immediate action, to prevent anti-Government protesters from being attacked noting that there will be grave repercussions to the Government and the Police if they fail to act swiftly to deal with the situation.

President of BASL, Saliya Pieris PC also called on the public not to resort to any form of violence and cause damage to public property.

Meanwhile, lawyers were also seen to have formed a human chain to avoid further clashes and in support of those involved in the peaceful anti-Government protest at Galle Face Green yesterday (9)
