State of Emergency will further destabilise ongoing economic crisis – PUCSL

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has raised concerns over the prevailing State of Emergency, emphasising that it will only further worsen the ongoing economic crisis.

Issuing a statement, PUCSL objected to the declaration of a Public Emergency, adding that this was the second such declaration in five weeks.

Further, PUCSL added that the continuous power outages was one of the main contributors to the present level of agitation amongst the public.

“We advise the government not to invoke public emergency at this juncture as it will further destabilize the present economic situation bringing more hardships to the common peoples“, the statement read.
