MEP, 11 coalition parties hold discussions

Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said discussions were held on Wednesday (4) between representatives of 11 coalition parties and the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) with regard to solutions given by a Party Leaders’ committee chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

They also discussed about the dissolution of Parliament within a specific time frame and creating a stable Parliament. The MEP representatives pointed out that the party has been making continuous proposals on constitutional amendments.

It was also discussed that the No-Confidence Motion presented by the Opposition shows that there is no consensus within parties in Parliament yet.

Representing the MEP, Leader Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, State Minister Sisira Jayakody and MP Yadamini Gunawardena participated in the meeting.

SLFP MPs, Nimal Siripala de Silva and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader MP Wimal Weerawansa, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) Leader MP Udaya Gammanpila, SLPP independent MP Nimal Lanza and United People’s Party (UPP) Secretary, MP Tiran Alles representing the 11 coalition parties that became independent in Parliament were present.
