UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (5) told the Government to take an immediate decision with regard to the future of SriLankan Airlines.
Speaking in Parliament, Wickremesinghe said otherwise, the public will curse the parliamentarians.
“Without taking a decision on the future of SriLankan Airlines, new airplanes should not be bought. We have to decide whether to continue Airline operations or suspend them. Otherwise the people will blame us,” he said.
In response, Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises, Dr. Charitha Herath said that procuring airplanes for SriLankan Airlines on lease has been suspended for three months.
