The Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) along with anti-Government protesters set up a hut at Polduwa Junction, stressing that they would not back off until the rulers listen to their demands. This was after the Police fired tear gas on IUSF members who were protesting near Parliament entrance last evening.
Meanwhile, Police have cordoned off several areas close to the Parliament Complex today (5), due to the movements of lawmakers being impeded by regular protests and demonstrations staged.
According to the Police the road from Diyatha Gardens (Polduwa Junction) up to Jayanthipura Junction and the road from Jayanthipura Junction up to the Denzil Kobbekaduwa Road will be closed for vehicular traffic today.
Police added that even several by-roads leading to Parliament will be closed to vehicular traffic.
