Party reps, SLMP hold talks


Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said discussions were held yesterday (4) between representatives of 11 parties and the Sri Lanka Mahajana Party (SLMP) with regard to applying solutions provided by the Party Leaders’ Committee in Parliament chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

They also discussed about dissolving Parliament within a specific time frame and creating a stable Parliament. SLMP representatives pointed out that the party has been making continuous proposals on constitutional amendments.

It was also discussed that the No-Confidence Motion presented by the Opposition shows that there is no consensus within parties in Parliament yet.

Representing the SLMP, Leader Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, State Minister Sisira Jayakody and MP Yadamini Gunawardena participated in the meeting.

MPs Nimal Siripala de Silva, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila, Nimal Lanza and Tiran Alles representing 11 coalition parties that became independent in Parliament were present.
