Radhakrishnan urges Delhi to consider proposal

Leader of the Up-Country People’s Front and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP, Dr. V. Radhakrishnan urged the Central Government of India to consider proposals by the Tamil Nadu Government regarding relief to Sri Lanka.

He said Sri Lanka is currently facing severe hardships and people are suffering a lot waiting in long queues. Recently, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin submitted a proposal to help Sri Lankans while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already sent many essentials to the country in the past few weeks.

“We thank India for the support they have been giving us and also request the Central Government of India to accept proposals submitted to support the Tamil community in Sri Lanka. Currently everyone in the country is affected by the economic crisis, especially the Tamil Community in the North and upcountry. They are suffering without much needed kerosene, food among others,” he said.

Stalin said they have requested Delhi to grant permission to help the Tamil community in Sri Lanka by providing food items, medicines and other essential commodities. This assistance from India will help the entire Tamil community in the country including the upcountry people, he added.
