The Tamil Nadu Assembly, which had planned to send dry rations to the North and East, as well as to the plantation sector in Sri Lanka, has decided to distribute them to all Sri Lankans, after Tamil politicians and other Tamil groups had asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to send them to a specific community, but to all Sri Lankans.
When he heard the news, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said he was overwhelmed by the gesture of the Tamil political parties, which is part of Tamil culture, and that he would gladly send the products to the Indian Government for distribution to all Sri Lankans.
Stalin said the Tamil Nadu Government will deliver 4,000 MT of rice worth INR 8 million, a range of medications worth INR 28 million, and 500 MT of infant formula worth INR 15 million.
