The ‘Red May Day’ rally, organised by the JVP, was held yesterday (1) in Colombo. The slogan for this year’s was ‘Struggle’.
The procession started from P.D. Sirisena Grounds, Panchikawatte at 3 p.m. and arrived in front of the Fort Railway Station. JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Politburo member K.D Lalkantha, Central committee members Lakshman Nipunarachchi, Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala and other leaders were present.
In his address to the massive crowd, that had gathered and marched to the rally venue, the JVP Leader questioned the whereabouts of the President and Prime Minister who were not present at any of the May Day rallies.
He said despite the fact that the Rajapaksas were the ones who caused the crisis, the citizens have fallen victim to this ‘Fatal accident’, with no food to eat or fuel to travel.
