President to hold talks on establishment of Interim Govt today

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is scheduled to meet all party leaders today (29), to discuss the establishment of an Interim Government.

The meeting will take place at. 10:30 am at the President’s House.

While President Rajapaksa extended the invitation to political parties representing the current administration and those who withdrew from the Government, declaring themselves independent, the 11 constituent parties and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) have conditionally agreed to meet with the President despite initially declining to do so.

Accordingly, 40 independent Members of Parliament have decided to meet with the President on the condition that only President Rajapaksa is present at the meeting, excluding Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Cabinet of Ministers.
