Litro Gas yesterday (28), announced that it has decided to reduce the number of domestic LP Gas cylinders being distributed on a daily basis.
Litro Chairman Vijitha Herath said, the number of gas cylinders distributed per day will be reduced from 80,000 to 30,000.
The decision was taken owing to the ongoing economic crisis, he explained, adding that the limitation will remain in effect for nearly two months.
He noted, however, that the limitation would not affect urban areas and essential services, adding that nearly 28 per cent of their consumers reside in urban areas.
Reasoning that this was the only feasible solution in the face of Sri Lanka’s current financial crisis, Herath explained that in order to meet the monthly demand for gas in the country, nearly USD 30 million is required.
