The Government that has caused people to take to the streets should be removed from power, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP S. Sritharan said.
During a media conference, he claimed that the assets claimed by the Rajapaksa family are those obtained in the past from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). “During 2008 and 2009, the Rajapaksas acquired a large sum of money and jewellery from the LTTE and invested it in various countries as their assets,” he added. He also claimed that the Rajapaksas increased their assets by encroaching on lands and resources, including those belonging to the Sinhala and Muslim communities.
“Meanwhile, citizens who are protesting at Galle Face are stable in their decision and everyone is supporting them from various parts of the country. At present, the people who elected and gave power to the current Government want to send the same Government home, as it has failed to run the country properly. They should resign and step down from power immediately,” he stressed.
