Name of ‘Interim PM’ under discussion – Gammanpila

Leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) Udaya Gammanpila said a name is being discussed with agreement among the party leaders for the position of Prime Minister of an Interim Government.

At the moment, he said, everyone is in agreement on appointing an SLPP MP to the post of Prime Minister.

He also said the SJB had agreed to support the No-Confidence Motion prepared by the 42 independent Parliamentarians, including 11 constituent parties, and to refrain from presenting their motion if it could win a majority.

Gammanpila said so during a Media briefing at the party’s headquarters yesterday (25).

He also said the SLPP Secretary, who claims to have more than 113 supporters in the Government, has been challenged to publish a list of MPs who support the Prime Minister.

He said a constitutional amendment will be tabled as soon as an Interim Government is formed.
