IUSF lodges complaint with HRCSL

The Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF), which staged a protest march from Colombo Fort to Galle Face Green on 24 April, lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) yesterday (25), charging that the measures adopted by the Police to obstruct their march had severely inconvenienced civilians.

Convener of the IUSF, Wasantha Mudalige, alleged the Police had placed road blocks including barricades with sharp pointed spikes covered with black sheets at strategic locations within the metropolis.

He charged that such measures had severely affected the movement of civilians within Colombo city limits.

Mudalige added civilians who had to move out of their homes and even those leaving for work within Colombo city had been severely impeded due to the Police actions.
