Italy has decided to grant an in-kind emergency contribution to Sri Lanka for the purchase of medicine and medical equipment.
Accordingly, a sum of 341,115 Euros (nearly Rs.125 million) will be channeled through the Italian Bilateral Emergency Fund at the World Health Organization (WHO).
Issuing a statement, the Italian Embassy noted that payment to suppliers abroad will be allowed directly as per planned procurement by the Ministry of Health in line with the supply chain management process.
The decision was made in light of the ongoing crisis in Sri Lanka, the Embassy said.
