Three Tamil speaking MPs offered State Minister posts

Three Tamil-speaking MPs were offered State Minister posts yesterday (20).

MP S.M. Musharaff representing the All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC), who reversed his intention to stay independent in Parliament, accepted the post of State Minister of Batik, Handloom Fabric and Local Apparel Products.

The MP told Parliament earlier this month of his decision to withdraw his support for the Government and to remain independent. He’s one of the three MPs who was criticised for voting in favour of the 20th Amendment last year. The other two MPs who were offered State Ministerial posts were: SLPP MP S. Viyalendran from Batticaloa District who was appointed as the State Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports while TMVP MP Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillaiyan was appointed as the State Minister of Rural Roads Development and Infrastructure.
