Rambukkana shooting an “inexcusbale act” – Sangakkara

Former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Kumar Sangakkara has expressed his great displeasure over the recent police shooting in Rambukkana.

Police fired tear gas last evening (19) to disperse protestors who were blocking the level crossing in Rambukkana, killing an individual and critically injuring several others.

Sangakkara condemned the actions of the police, asserting that the use of lethal force against unarmed protestors is “unconscionable” and “inexcusable”.

He stressed that the first and foremost responsibility of the police is to protect lives of people and said the incident was “such a shameful instance of brutality.”
