Proposals have been submitted towards amending titles of Government officials who are assigned to counting centres and polling stations.

As a result, posts such as junior election officer and clerk are to be amended.

As per the proposed amendments, the post of junior election chief will be changed to officer in charge of polling stations and the post of clerk will henceforth be known as assistant election officer. According to the Election Commission these posts will become active at all future elections.
