PUCSL to reduce power cuts

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) guaranteed the public that prevailing power cuts will be reduced considerably in the days ahead.

Chairman of the PUCSL Janaka Ratnayake said the PUCSL received written confirmation from Secretaries of the Ministries of Power and Energy that stocks of fuels will be allocated to the Ceylon Electricity Board for power generation.

Sri Lanka received 12,000MT of diesel through the Indian Credit Line yesterday (02) and 6,000MT through IOC.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will receive another 12,000MT diesel on 5th and 6th of April, and 25,000MT of furnace oil on 6th and 7th of April, both through the Indian Credit Line.

In addition, the Chairman said a reasonable allocation will be made when a shipment of fuel anchored at sea is cleared following payment.
