Curfew order: Public prohibited from being present at several public areas


President Gotabaya Rajapaksa issued an Extraordinary Gazette a short while ago, prohibiting all persons from being present at several locations during the ongoing islandwide curfew.

As per the Gazette, no one will be permitted to be present on public roads, railways, parks, recreational or other grounds seashores and other such areas from 06:00 pm today (02) till 06:00 am on Monday (04).

Only those who have obtained written permission from the Secretaries of the Ministry of Defence or Ministry of Public Security, the Inspector General of Police or any other authorised officer. 

Earlier today, a 36-hour curfew was imposed ahead of tomorrow’s public protests scheduled to take place in several areas across the country, while a state of public emergncy was also declared last night (01).
