Curfew to be imposed on Sunday?

No decision has been taken regarding the imposition of a Police curfew on Sunday (03), Senior Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

A mass protest is scheduled to take place on Sunday in several parts of the island, against the current economic crisis.

Several political parties have, however, announced that they will not be taking part in the protest.

Accordingly, the United National Party (UNP), Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and the National Freedom Front (NFF) announced that they will not be part of the protest.

Police curfew was imposed last night till 05:00 am this morning owing to the protest that took place near President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s residence down Pengiriwatte Road, Mirihana.
