Govt to seek assistance from other IFOs – Vajira

UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena yesterday (30) claimed that in addition to  assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Sri Lanka might have to obtain assistance from international private creditors such as the London Club.

“The Government finally agreed to obtain assistance from the IMF. We might have to go to other international entities such as the London Club. Sri Lanka working with the IMF would build trust with the international community. Therefore, that trust would be helpful when we seek assistance from other International Financial Organisations (IFO).” said Abeywardena.

He claimed that UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is the only one who could rescue the country from the current crises.

“We have no proper policy on electricity, education and economy. Wickremesinghe gave an early warning of this situation. That is why we repeatedly say; he is the only one who can rescue the country.” Abeywardena quipped.
