Colombo High Court Judge, Navaratne Marasinghe, yesterday (30) ordered further hearing of the case filed against SJB MP Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and two other accused of the loss of revenue by the lease of the Modera Fisheries Harbour during Seneratne’s tenure as Fisheries Minister.
Senertane, Chairman of the Fisheries Corporation Upali Liyanage and its Managing Director, Neil Munasinghe were indicted for leasing the Modera Fisheries Harbour to a private firm for a low price causing a loss of revenue to the State.
CIABOC on 20 August, 2020 charged the parties, of the offence committed from 1 August to 1 November 2014 and thereby flouting Provisions in the Bribery Act and Penal Code. Further hearing of the case was set for 11 May. The prosecution produced 17 witnesses and 55 Court productions, to further substantiate the charges filed against the three accused.
