India has assured support to ensure economic stability in Sri Lanka and reiterated that being a close neighbour, New Delhi understands Sri Lanka’s real issues.
The assurance was given by visiting Indian external affairs minister S. Jaishankar to his Sri Lankan counterpart G.L. Peiris during a meeting in Colombo yesterday (28).
Meeting on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC meeting, they reviewed the broad spectrum of bilateral political, economic, social and cultural ties.
Expressing satisfaction over the ever growing two way bond, they resolved to explore ways and means to further elevate the robust relations that both nations enjoy.
Jaishankar welcomed the positive developments the Sri Lankan government has made towards resolving issues concerning Tamils and achieving long lasting solution.
