Kohuwela flyover half complete

Highways Minister Johnston Fernando said nearly half of the construction work, on the Kohuwala flyover, has been completed.

The Minister said so while speaking to the media after a meeting held at his ministry to review the progress of the construction. Minister Fernando and Hungarian Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó inaugurated the project on 12 January. The project is envisaged to be completed in July 2023.

During the progress review meeting, Project Director Engineer Nalinda Ratnayake said that the project has reported 46 per cent progress so far. The minister instructed officials to expedite their work so that traffic congestion in and around Kohuwala junction on the 120 bus route would be eased. The overhead bridge would be 297 meters in length and 9.4 meters in width overarching a four-lane road, connecting Nugegoda and Kalubowila, controlled by traffic signals.
