Jaishankar visits LIOC filing station in Colombo


Indian external affairs minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, who is presently in Sri Lanka, visited a Lanka Indian Oil Company owned filling station in Colombo today (28).

Dr. Jaishankar tweeted that he was briefed on the fuel supply situation by the managing director of the LIOC, Manoj Gupta.

“Indian LoC of US$ 500 million is helping Sri Lankan people in their everyday life,” he said.

India has so far extended financial assistance of US$ one billion under a credit line to Sri Lanka, of which US$ 500 million is being utilized for the purchase of fuel.

Jaishankar is in the island for bilateral talks and to attend the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation summit.
