The 29th phase of the Guwan Mithudam project was successfully completed at the ‘Ceylon School for Deaf and Blind’ in Ratmalana by the SLAF Base Ratmalana, under the guidance of the Chairperson SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Charmini Pathirana. During this community project the library building was renovated and handed over to the students.
Approximately 90 differently-able students are studying here and the students were unable to use the library due to the dilapidated condition of the building. The building was repainted and renovated with infrastructure facilities such as installation of fans, electrical outlets, re-wiring and repairing of the roof.
The project was funded by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit in liaison with SLAF Base Ratmalana and the project was supervised by Acting Base Commander SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore Charith Bodhiseela.
The Acting Base Commander, a cross section of officers and other ranks of SLAF Base Ratmalana along with the members of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Principal, teachers and students attended the event.
