Gamini Lokuge’s driver murdered over personal dispute

A driver attached to minister Gamini Lokuge was murdered by an armed group in Kesbewa last night (21), police said.

The 41-year-old had advised a speeding, reckless young motorcyclist to ride slowly on the road in front of his home at Mawittara.

Angered by the advice, he had returned with several persons armed with a club and a sword and attacked him.

The critically-injured man died at Piliyandala district hospital.

Police are looking for the assailants, including the young motorcyclist’s parents and an elder brother, who had fled their homes since.
