Ranjan admitted to Colombo National Hospital

Imprisoned former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital this morning (20), Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said.

Ramanayake was taken to the Orthopedic Clinic of the hospital, after which he was admitted for further treatment.

The former MP had been receiving treatment at the Welikada Prison Hospital since November last year after suffering from a knee injury.

Ramanayake was sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment at the Angunakolapelessa Prison by the Supreme Court on 12 January, after he was found to be in contempt of court in connection to statements he had made to the media regarding the judiciary.
