Celebrated tusker Nedungamuwe Raja dies


Celebrated tusker Nedungamuwe Raja, the main casket bearer at the annual Kandy Esala Perahera for 12 years, died this morning (07) following a brief illness.

The tallest tamed tusker in the country at 3.2 metres, Raja was aged 69 years.

The tusker was a gift from India and was born in Mysore in 1953.
