Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe backed Muslim extremists with the intention of creating massive religious tensions and clashes all around the country and then to invite international forces to restore normalcy, alleged Parliamentarian Vasudeva Nanayakkara.
Addressing the media at the Opposition Leader’s office today (8), Nanayakkara further alleged that starting from the incident in Digana to the 600 alleged defamatory letters against the President from Minister Lakshman Kiriella’s office, the narrative constituted a well planned script and Wickremesinghe is working according to that.
Nanayakkara claimed that the Digana plot was to assassinate the President and Kiriella’s letters were to harm the President’s character.
“People should not think of these incidents in isolation but they should see all the incidents and should understand that there is a mastermind behind all of these occurrences and that it is Wickremesinghe. It is visible to everyone that right now Wickremesinghe is spending a very free and happy life after seeing this massacre,” he also alleged.
Speaking further, Nanaykkara alleged that Wickremesinghe and his pawns thought that after the Easter Sunday (21 April) carnage, Christians might call for a war against the Muslims and that the Muslims would react, and there will be clashes which even the President could not control.
“Kiriella wanted to create tension between the monks and the Sinhalese by sending those letters so they will definitely go for a war. But Archbishop of Colombo, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith controlled the situation. Muslims were prepared with weapons in their residences in case of attacks on them,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, MP C. B. Rathnayake claimed that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was quick to question MP Piyal Nishantha over an allegation but there are many MPs and Ministers that have allegations, but the CID never wants to question them.
“The Government is ignoring taking statements from those Ministers and MPs against whom allegations have been levelled as they are afraid of losing minority votes. We urge them to forget about votes and conduct the investigations properly,” he said.
